Ambuild Landscape Product & Engineering (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (Ambuild) is a high-tech enterprise focused on the provision of internationally leading landscape pavement systems. Permeable Pavements provide optimal environmentally friendly paving systems. Rainwater can be recycled in order to compensate groundwater and Ambuild claims that even heat island effect, a major cause of concern in Hong Kong, can be reduced, whilst maintaining perfect surface performance and aesthetic standards. Permeable pavements are becoming ubiquitous in major urban centres and as demand for their use increases so too has the range of product, with designs and systems now available for every conceivable use, such as in sports stadiums, parks, roads, commercial plazas, rainwater recycling systems, residential developments, driveways and sidewalks and many other applications. Since their inception in 2004 Ambuild, a member of the American Concrete Institute, has independently developed three permeable pavement systems:
Colorized High-Performance Permeable Concrete (PermCrete), Exposed Aggregate Permeable Concrete (PermStone) and Resin Bonded Surfacing System (PermResin).
• PermCrete – Permeable Concrete is a pour-on-site structural concrete product mixed with selected local aggregates, Portland cement and Ambuild’s proprietorial colorized consolidating additives.
• PermStone – PermStone is a variety of aggregate exposed porous concrete resulting from the combination pf PermCrete and Ambuild’s proprietorial Concrete Surface Retardant.
• PermResin – PermResin’s bonded surfacing system is a premium decorative permeable pavement. A wide range of natural and recycled aggregates can be resin bonded to a variety of surfaces with Ambuild’s proprietorial BondResin.

Many advantages
Ambuild’s permeable pavements are environmentally friendly. From material selection to construction, only non-toxic, environmentally friendly materials are required. Yet permeable pavements can maximize water recycling. They offer high permeability –achieving a permeability rate of 10 times the rate of ordinary permeable concrete pavers: 15%-35% of interconnected voids with a permeability rate of <1x10-1cm/s with its optimal permeability. Ambuild permeable pavements meet the penetration requirements for all rainfall
levels, climate and regional variations in weather.
Additionally they are east to maintain. Ambuild recommend coating the surface of PermCrete and PermStone with their proprietorial Transparent Wear-Resistant Silicon Fluoride Sealer (TSF). Subsequently surface treatments provide better wear-resistance, dust-proofing and anti-fouling performance.
Plus they can easily be maintained by simply washing out with rain or high pressure water.
Exacting design principals and pleasing aesthetics can be achieved through Ambuild’s many design solutions: PermCrete customizable colours, PermStone’s wide variety of natural exposed aggregates and PermResin’s loose gravel effect. Ambuild’s permeable pavements not only provide optimal permeability but possess the proven load-bearing capacity of ordinary concrete. Because they are designed with interconnected voids, they also have vastly improved freeze-thaw properties as compared to ordinary concrete; ice expansion stress can be effectively released while the water is in a free state.
PermCrete – Colourized High Performance Permeable Concrete PermCrete is a structural concrete pavement with a large volume of interconnected voids. It’s made from a mixture of cement, coarse aggregates, additives and water. However, it contains little or no sand, which results in a porous open-cell structure that allows water to pass through readily.
Colourized high performance PremCrete refers to the decorative surface layer on top of the permeable base. The selected aggregate (04-6mm) and Portland cement are locally sourced, while the proprietorial colourized consolidating additives are provided by Ambuild Landscape.
The base layer under the colourized top layer is called standard porous concrete which is a self-consolidating lean concrete mixed with Ambuild’s proprietorial Standard Porous Concrete Consolidating Additives (SPCA). Applying transparent, wear-resistant silicon fluoride sealer (SFS) on the surface of pavements enhances colour, maintains uniformity, improves road abrasion resistance, prevents particle loss, enhances anti-fouling and ameliorates dust-roofing properties of surface self-cleaning. PermCrete is the result of a combination of material science and construction technology.

PermStone – Exposed Aggregate Permeable Concrete. The principal difference between PermCrete and PermStone is that the colour and texture of PermStone is determined by the exposed natural aggregates.
PermCrete conversely can be pigmented with natural dyes to achieve a wide range of design aesthetics. The difference in construction between PermCrete and PermStone is that PermStone needs an additional washing out process with proprietorial concrete surface retardant after the PermCrete layer has just been installed.
PermStone is normally designed to 30mm thickness and applied on the top of a standard porous concrete base. The two layers should be constructed simultaneously, or a new and old concrete bonding agent will need to be applied. PermStone is a technologically advanced system combining the technology of PermCrete and aggregate exposed processes. The company recommends the application of transparent wear-resistant silicon fluoride sealer (SFS) on the surface of PermStone.
PermCrete installation and PermStone engineering should both be managed by Ambuild’s processional team or its trained authorized agents for best results.
PermResin – Resin Bonded Surfacing System The PermResin bonded surfacing system provides an attractive, hard wearing, low maintenance surface by bonding or fixing loose gravel aggregates to concrete, asphalt, wood or metal. A wide range of natural and recycled aggregates can be resin bonded to a variety of surfaces, making it ideal for heritage sites, landscaping schemes, parks, paths, driveways, roads and visitor attractions that desire the look of loose stone but the convenience of fixed paving. PermResin can be installed after the client or contractor receives training in Ambuild’s BondResin series installation technique.
The BondResin series is the key to the PermResin system. PermResin consists of aggregates mixed with primer, body resin and Ambuild’s proprietorial UV transparent resin.
PermResin can be applied to permeable concrete, asphalt, ordinary concrete, timber and steel surfaces. Patterns, logos, symbols, drawings and special designs can be integrated into the surface system to provide clients with a myriad of decorative options. The major benefits of the PermResin bonded surfacing system are:

• Fixed – does not move, migrate or wash away
• Low maintenance – only regular routine cleaning or pressure washing required
• Anti-slip – textured or sand mixed aggregates provide a good anti-skid surface.
